A project can have parts, and the parts hold tasks: Project → Part → Task. Parts and tasks are optional.
Create a project
Owners and admins choose New project under Projects:
- Name, and optionally Customer and Code
- Time is billable by default
- Billing, if the project should round differently from the company
- Show the budget to members when they report time
- Open to everyone in the company, or who may report time
Parts and tasks
New part divides the project, for example into phases. A task has a name, an optional code and an optional budget.
The code is unique in the project, and the name is unique within the part.
Add many at once
Choose Add many at once and type or paste one line per part or task:
Kick-off
T1 Requirements 12
Requirements 7.5
Sprint 1
Delivery:
- A line without hours becomes a part, as do
Sprint 1and a line ending in a colon. T1 Requirements 12becomes a task with code and budget.- You can also paste columns from Excel: code, name and hours, or name and hours.
Tasks go in the part above them. You see a preview before anything is saved.
Project leads
On the People tab, choose Make project lead. A project lead looks after tasks, parts and people in their project, but can't edit, archive or delete the project itself and can't change other people's time.
Archive or delete
- Archive: nobody can report any more, but the time stays and you can restore the project. Parts and tasks are archived the same way.
- Delete: only possible for a project without time.
